Hostelito Inn, Possibly the Friendliest Hostel in Guadalajara

I was very lucky to land in one of the most welcoming hostel I’ve ever stayed at, the Hostelito Inn. When I fist saw it online I booked a room for 3 days, I’ve now stayed almost 2 weeks. Why? Well the atmosphere is open and very friendly. I’ve met quite a few wonderful people that have helped show me where to start learning Spanish, been cuddled to sleep by Brandy the resident dog and even learned a bit how to cook with help from Julia.

The location has been perfect for me since I was rather worried about getting lost in Guadalajara, but it’s within walking distance of most of the major tourist attractions, pedestrian only streets filled with shops of all kinds as well as a massive (and super cheap) food market.

Right now I can hear music pouring out of speakers while they set up for David Joel’s art show, the rumble of traffic outside, the indoor fountain trickling gently and laughter flowing from 2 different areas of the hostel. The sun is streaming through the open roof in one of the common areas. I feel like I’m experiencing one of life’s perfect moments.

During my stay here I’ve watched David Joel create many beautiful abstract paintings. I’m not normally a fan of abstract, but I absolutely love his work and have enjoyed watching him paint. The vibrant colors and shapes evoke strong emotions in me that swirl into something new each time I look. I’ll also be in Guadalajara for his first show which I hope (and expect) to be a success.

Francisco has also been offering free tattoos for the travellers passing through which I mentioned in this post (er.. I’ll link it when I finish writing it) and I even had my own tattoo turned from something I was embarrassed by into something beautiful that I’m proud to show off. =D

If you’re going to travel to Guadalajara I’d definitely suggest Hostelito Inn if you want a friendly, fun atmosphere. The residents will change but I’m sure that with the positive energy this hostel seems imbued with, and the friendly hosts, this will always be a wonderful place to hang out during your journey.

(And in case you were wondering, no, this isn’t a paid post in any way).

Hi Squekum’s

More interesting paintings, sounds like you are enjoying yourself! I like your style of writing, it allows one to feel the message. It reminds myself of a author “Zane Grey” a writer of westerns. I can see that you get the writing ability not from me but rather your mother.
Thought this could turn into a book, allowing others to travel to far away places. Enjoy the wanderings through your descriptive style, and pictures all for only for a small price.
Due to a variety of reasons being able to trave is difficult or impossible for most.
Something to consider.

Sounds like a great place!

Is puppy cuddling a feature of the hostel or is it a bonus? :)

And it sounds like watching David create is cool. I hope the show goes really well!

Sooo much great art there!

I’ll see what adventures I have before I even think of a book, for now I’ll blog it for free :)

Ooh, Brandy is a definite bonus here, I’m not normally a big dog person, but she’s a sweetie! David’s show went well, I might write an entry about it at some point.
