Hi Catia!
Teotihuacan was the home of the Toltecs. the Nahuatl word "Toltec" means "craftsman of the highest level" and refers to a lineage of ancient scientists and artists, dedicated to a higher learning and a specific spiritual discipline, not to the archaeological Toltec civilization centered at Tula in Mexico. They "became gods" by uniting with the "Spirit" in the "Totality of the Self". It is something like being a Buddha, an awakened one. Recommended reading: The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz (of Toltec lineage) and Journey to Ixtlan by Carlos Castaneda

From what I was told the locals and workers tried to fight it, but corporate dollars usually win in those situations. It makes me so angry even thinking about it and wondering how many other places in the world are being lost to similar situations.

Sadly, greed and power often walk hand in hand.

That is a shame about Wal-Mart. I'm starting to think Wal-Mart is a blight upon the earth. I cannot believe the locals let them get away with that kind of cultural devastation.
